About Mini’imah Shaheed

Chief Executive Officer

Mini’imah Shaheed is Chief Executive Officer of KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools. Prior to her role as CEO, Mini’imah served as Chief Schools Officer, and as the founder and principal of KIPP STRIVE Primary School, KIPP ATL’s first elementary school, established in 2012.

Mini’imah began her career in education as a 2001 Teach for America corps member and an assistant principal for four years thereafter. She earned a B.A. degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, an MAT degree in English Literature at Agnes Scott College, and a master’s degree add-on certification in Educational Leadership at Georgia State University.

Mini’imah was named as the Atlanta Families’ 2016-2017 Principal of the Year. And in 2021, she was honored by Atlanta Magazine as a Woman Making A Mark. She was selected for the highly competitive Leadership Atlanta program, Class of 2023. Mini’imah’s advocacy extends beyond our organization’s four walls as she leads as a board member for the Georgia Charter Schools Association.

Above all, Mini’imah leads with love – using her experiences and expertise to lead KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools towards becoming a beacon in public education in Atlanta and beyond. She believes it is our radical responsibility to prove that joyful, identity-affirming learning experience for our scholars, including her own two KIPPsters, is a critical conduit for powerful academic and life outcomes.
